Religious Upbringing

Growing up, I have always considered myself a Catholic. I was baptized into the religion only a few months after I was born, went to Church almost every Sunday, attended Sunday School afterwards, and prayed with my family every day. Most people in my family were religious, and never appeared to have any doubts about God or His existence. This was more than many people my age would have had, and, on the surface, one would think that I had a good foundation of Catholicism in my life. Unfortunately, this was incorrect.

Descent to Agnosticism

The issue was: I never learned evidence for my belief, and how to defend it. There are many religions in the world, so how would I know this one was true? I was also told that Evolution disproved Christianity, and was also presented with clear evidence of Evolution. Logically, this meant that Christianity must be false. Many Self-Identified Christians, such as Answers in Genesis, tried to disprove Evolution using their reasoning, but few of their arguments held up to scrutiny. Thus, while I still identified as a Christian, inside, I was Agnostic. I then desperately researched evidence for Christianity.

Bad Arguments for God's Existence

The evidence did not satisfy me, though. It seemed to me that all of the arguments for God went against Evolution, or implied that we did not know how something happened, therefore God did it. Advances in science, and, thus, knowledge of the world, would make these arguments less convincing, until, one day, science could explain everything God originally could, with God constantly retreating, making Him irrelevant and unprovable. This ideology, I would later find out, was called the god of the gaps.

My Reversion to Christianity

Fortunately, my ideas would change. As will be explained on this site, I found how Evolution does not contradict Catholic teachings, and how to justify this belief. I also found out about the Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano, a miracle that defied all of my expectations, made me certain that the God of Christianity exists, and is an argument that can stand the test of time. My goal now is communicating this idea with the world, so the unbelieving may hear. The Miracle that Brought me Back
